The 2011 Inglis Mile will have a slightly different ring to it this year with a new major sponsor coming on board to rename it the Trojan Hand Tools Stakes 2011.
It will be run on the Cox Plate card on Saturday the 22nd of October, a program that features no less than seven group races at Moonee Valley Racecourse.
Others to be included are theĀ Schweppes Stakes, Crystal Mile, AAMI Vase, Inglis Mile and the Red Anchor Stakes as well as the main event Cox Plate.
The Inglis Mile is a Group 3 rated contest with $150,000 in prize money. The conditions for the event are for mares aged four and over run under handicap conditions across a trip of 1600m.
The Inglis Mile is a favourite event for mare looking for either a final tune up to their Myer Classic bid or simply to earn their way into the field.
The Group 1 Myer Classic is held at Flemington a week after the Trojan Hand Tools Stakes over the same mile journey for fillies and mares at weight for age level.
That adds even more importance to the 2011 Trojan Hand Tools Stakes and ensures it’s going to be one hell of a contest at Moonee Valley on October 22nd.
